Click for larger imageOn September 27, 2012, Josh Graves’s 85th birthday, the University of Illinois will publish Bluegrass Bluesman: A Memoir, edited by Fred Bartenstein.  We will celebrate the occasion at the International Bluegrass Music Association’s annual meeting in the Nashville Convention Center.  Fred Bartenstein will cut the birthday cake and sign copies of Bluegrass Bluesman in the University of Illinois Press booth (#223) at 1:00 p.m. Members of Josh Graves’s family have been invited to attend.

A pivotal member of the hugely successful bluegrass band Flatt and Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys, Dobro pioneer Josh Graves (1927–2006) was a living link between bluegrass music and the blues. In Bluegrass Bluesman, this influential performer shares the story of his lifelong career in music.
