To all of my listen-to-music-in-the-background-at-work colleagues, I recommend Pandora Radio. Yesterday I typed in “River Man” by Nick Drake and received a steady stream of minor key, folky, singer-songwriterly stuff with string arrangements—Nico, Michael Chapman, Cat Stevens, Leonard Cohen, Terry Reid, Noe Venable (new to me), Dennis Young (ditto), and the James Gang (!) track “Ashes the Rain & I”—perfect for the winter days of East Central Illinois.

This morning I began with Royksopp‘s “Eple” and have been treated to a flow of cinematic techno tracks by Bluetech, Aim, Project Skyward, etc.

So far the Pandora algorithm has generated very few misses.
