The award will be bestowed at the ABWH luncheon in Raleigh, NC on October 2, 2010 as part of the ASALH annual meeting.

Beauty Shop Politics examines how black beauticians in the Jim Crow era parlayed their economic independence and access to a public community space into platforms for activism.
