The American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress recently hosted a lecture by David Warren Steel, author of the new book The Makers of the Sacred Harp.  

Steel discusses the roots of the Sacred Harp, the central collection of the deeply influential and long-lived southern tradition of shape-note singing.
