Chicago River Bridges wins Society for the History of Technology prize

mcbriartyPatrick McBriarty’s Chicago River Bridges has been selected as the winner of the 2015 Eugene S. Ferguson Prize, awarded biennially by the Society for the History of Technology (SHOT).

The Ferguson Prize recognizes “an outstanding and original reference work that will support future scholarship in the history of technology.” It is awarded to a work that is in the tradition of scholarly excellence established by Eugene S. Ferguson (1916–2004), SHOT’s pioneering bibliographer, a founding member of the Society, museum curator, editor, university professor, and scholar of the history of engineering and technology.

The Prize was formally presented at the 2015 meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on October 10.
