Earlier in the week I received an envelope from our European distributor that contained some recent press clippings. The best clipping (of the year!) is from WORD, a UK music magazine with a circulation of 34,000. The publication includes a “Word of Mouth” section wherein a few celebrity musicians talk about “the things they like.”
Sarah Cracknell, Saint Etienne’s singer, likes Felt, Laura Nyro, and HBO’s The Wire. Tom Jones, the “leather-lunged Welsh wonder and voice behind 100 million record sales,” prefers Amy Winehouse, Amos Lee, The Wild Bunch, and Donald Hickey’s The War of 1812: A Forgotten Conflict. What?! Yep, there’s a scan of the cover and a few words about the book.
Mr. Jones, e-mail me and I’ll send you a gratis copy of Hickey’s more recent title, Don’t Give Up the Ship!: Myths of the War of 1812.
