Kirtland Temple: The Biography of a Shared Mormon Sacred Space by David J. Howlett has received the Smith-Pettit Best Book Award from the John Whitmer Historical Association (JWHA). The award was announced at the JWHA’s annual meeting, which was held September 24-27 in Independence, Missouri.

The book also received the Best First Book Award from the Mormon History Association earlier this year.
