SNCC Way!

In October 2010 we are publishing Hands on the Freedom Plow: Personal Accounts by Women in SNCC, in which fifty-two women—northern and southern, young and old, urban and rural, black, white, and Latina—share their courageous personal stories of working for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) on the front lines of the Civil Rights Movement.

During this 50th anniversary year of SNCC’s founding, the city of Atlanta will dedicate “SNCC Way,” at the intersection Raymond Street S.W. and Mitchell Street S.W.  The ceremony will take place on Monday, May 10, at 11:00 a.m., and will be led by Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Atlanta City Councilmember Michael Julian Bond.
