University of Illinois Press joins Oxford’s University Press Scholarship Online (UPSO) platform

From yesterday’s press release:

March 6, 2017 (New York, NY)—Oxford University Press (OUP) is pleased to announce the addition of two new partner presses to its University Press Scholarship Online (UPSO) platform.

The University of Illinois Presswill go live on UPSO in April 2017. Illinois Scholarship online will launch with 350 titles across a broad range of subject areas including sociology, music, history, society and culture, film television & radio, and literature.

“The University of Illinois Press is delighted to join our distinguished peer presses in creating a more fully integrated network of scholarly content for students and scholars. The Oxford platform provides powerful tools to scholarly researchers, enabling them to search across titles from participating presses and make connections that might otherwise remain elusive – all with the assurance that all content is responsibly vetted and edited to ensure reliability.” said Laurie Matheson, Director of University of Illinois Press.  “We are very pleased that our scholarly titles will now leverage the Oxford platform for greater visibility and discoverability.”

Princeton University Press will also be joining UPSO in October 2017.  The Princeton Scholarship Online site will go live with over 400 titles across the humanities and sciences with special strengths in Biology, Classics, Economics, History, Literature, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, and Sociology which will immediately broaden the scope of the platform.

“We are pleased to join Oxford’s scholarly platform and thus further Princeton University Press’s mission to bring scholarly ideas to the world and enrich the human conversation. As a global Press it is our goal to bring the highest standards of scholarship embodied by the work of our authors to academic libraries and research institutions everywhere.” said Princeton University Press Director, Peter Dougherty.

Niko Pfund, President, OUP USA remarked, “We could scarcely be more pleased that the University of Illinois Press and Princeton University Press will be joining the UPSO platform. Publishing for almost a century, Illinois has long distinguished itself as a stellar publisher of American social history, with notable lists in labor history, music history, African-American history, and women’s studies, to name just a few. Princeton’s storied program encompasses such jewels as the landmark Barrington Atlas of the Greek and Roman World, a world-class economics list, and a half dozen Pulitzer Prizes, and counts almost twenty Nobel Laureates among its authors. We look forward to promoting the publications of these fine publishers.”
