I had a good meeting yesterday at the Center for Black Music Research about a launch event for the forthcoming book Give ‘Em Soul, Richard! Race, Radio, and Rhythm and Blues in Chicago by Richard Stamz (1906-2007) and Patrick Roberts. Stamz, known as the Crown Prince of Soul, was one of Chicago’s first African-American disc jockeys.
The event will be at Columbia College on February 1 and will include Richard Stamz’s friends, family, and colleagues, plus music, testimonials, and an author signing by Patrick Roberts.
