Three Music Books Awarded AMS Subventions

We’re pleased to announce that three forthcoming music titles have been awarded publication subventions from the American Musicological Society. These funds help offset the costs of publication and allow us to price the consumer edition of the book affordably. The competition is very stiff and we are delighted these books are receiving this support and this distinction from the AMS.

All of the below titles have received a grant from the General Fund of the American Musicological Society, supported in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

The Resounding Revolution: Freedom Song after 1968 by Stephen Stacks (May 2025)

Music in a Nation of Immigrants: US Musical Practice and Irish Diaspora in the Nineteenth Century by Sarah Gerk (title subject to change; pub date TBD)

Performing Tradition: Musical Imaginaries and the Public Veillée in Quebec by Laura Risk (title subject to change; pub date TBD)
