University of Illinois Press at OAH by Kendra

The Organization of American Historians held its Annual Meeting in NYC this year, in midtown Manhattan at the Hilton New York.  It was a good and busy meeting for us, with much celebrating on the agenda: first, for the publication of Gabriela Arredondo’s book, Mexican Chicago: Race, Identity, and Nation, 1916-39, which involved a festive book signing;

and then at Press-sponsored receptions celebrating UIP’s 90th Anniversary, the highlight of these of course being the sublime jazz concert by the Valerie Capers Jazz Ensemble.

What a treat that was.  I had productive meetings with potential authors and my series editors for the Asian American Experience, The Food Series, and our forthcoming Studies in Sensory History Series.  OAH Annual Meeting this time next year: Seattle. See you all there.
