Two University of Illinois Press titles, Record Makers and Breakers: Voices of Independent Rock ‘n’ Roll Pioneers by John Broven and King of the Queen City: The Story of King Records by Jon Hartley Fox, have been awarded Certificates of Merit in the 2010 Association for Records Sound Collections Award for Excellence in Historical Sound Research.

Both are volumes in the series Music in American Life.
