Tyrone McKinley Freeman author of Madam C.J. Walker’s Gospel of Giving Awarded 2022 Dan David Prize

We’re pleased to announce that Tyrone McKinley Freeman, author of Madam C.J. Walker’s Gospel of Giving: Black Women’s Philanthropy during Jim Crow, has been awarded the 2022 Dan David Prize. The Dan David Prize awards up to nine prizes of $300,000 each year to outstanding early and mid-career scholars and practitioners in the historical disciplines. The Prize is given in recognition of the winners’ contribution to the study of the past and to support their future endeavors.
